Big O Music Fest

The Big O Music Fest, the best time in Owensboro, will feature popular Nashville acts. On Friday, Randy Houser, Mark Wills, Josh Gracin and Mountain Heart are scheduled to appear. Saturday features Gary Allan, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, Colt Ford, Brian Davis, and Jaclyn Graves. New this year - CAMPING! Held at Reid's Orchard, 4812 Highway 144. Tickets can be purchased through the website. Gates open at noon, with performances beginning at 1 p.m.

Farm to Table, Vine to Glass

The Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the 2010 Farm to Table, Vine to Glass fundraiser to benefit the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market on July 20 from 5-8 p.m. at RiverPark Center. This event is to raise awareness of the Farmer’s Market and to focus on our locally grown foods.

Tickets are $30 and include a commemorative wine glass and six tastings of Kentucky wines, plus delicious food tastings prepared by our outstanding local chefs teamed with local farmers, live music by County Line Bluegrass and Danny Fulkerson, plus a silent auction.

All foods used are regionally grown and all wines are from Kentucky vineyards. Wines will also be available for purchase from the vineyards.

ONLY 300 TICKETS WILL BE SOLD! Tickets can be purchased at the Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau at 215 E. Second Street on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Or they can be purchased at the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market in the Owensboro Christian Church parking lot on New Hartford Road on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Marathon Ski for DAV (Disabled American Veterans)

Mark Miller and his two teenage sons will be slalom skiing (one ski) the entire length of the Ohio River (981 miles) in late July. This event is to raise awareness and funds for the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). They will be passing through Owensboro around lunchtime on July 22nd, and continuing on to finish their journey in Cairo, IL on July 23rd. Their website is www.dav.org/marathonski. Friday After 5 Returns!

Friday After 5 gets under way this coming Friday, May 21. Come on down to the Ohio River on the RiverPark Center's BB&T Plaza and get your weekend started with the Velvet Bombers! The Plaza opens at 5 with music starting at 6:30 and playing until 10 p.m. This year, in the Courtyard Unplugged, enjoy acoustic entertainment. This Friday, Heath Eric will perform. The Street Fair is "Public Service Night" and features Owensboro's firefighters and police. Kids can sit in a fire truck and also get a Child I.D. kit from the Police Department. There will be plenty more for the whole family to enjoy. Start your weekend in the most fun way!

Lanham Brothers Jamboree

The Lanham Brothers bring a fun and interactive show for the entire family to Diamond Lake Resort. Doors open at 6 p.m. Special guest will be Country Music recording artist, Wade Hades, as well as local bluegrass group, Blackberry Jam and the Foot Stompin' Express Dance Troupe. Owensboro's Tournament Season!

he 2010 Owensboro Sports Season gets started in March. On March 20, the St. Patrick’s Day Dash, 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run is a chance to get out and enjoy the coming Spring. Contestants will meet at O’Charley’s Restaurant to register and then take off for their event along the Adkisson Greenbelt Trails. The $15 registration fee includes breakfast, commemorative T-shirt, and awards.

The BPA World Series Qualifier opens the baseball tournament season on March 20-21 with games being played at both Panther Creek and Jack C. Fisher Parks.

The NSA Fastpitch World Series Qualifier gets softball underway the following weekend, March 26-28, with games at Panther Creek and Jack C. Fisher Parks.

On Sunday, March 28, the Bluegrass Bash gets motorsports going at the Windy Hollow Speedway. UMO DIRTcar Modifieds will race for the $3000 prize. The program will feature a full show of Practice, Single-lap Group Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the Feature Event. Gates open at 9 a.m. with races beginning at 12 p.m.

Owensboro Hospitality

The Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau is partnering with the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce in offering new workshops in hospitality. Owensboro is already considered a very friendly town, but these workshops will highlight how hospitality effects everyone! The first workshops will be on March 23 at The Springs, and is based on the “Give ‘em the Pickle” program developing by Bob Farrell. All participants will receive a workbook and each grouping will receive the “Give ‘em the Pickle” video. Registration is $15, with each additional person from the same business only $10.
