Farm to Table, Vine to Glass

The Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the 2010 Farm to Table, Vine to Glass fundraiser to benefit the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market on July 20 from 5-8 p.m. at RiverPark Center. This event is to raise awareness of the Farmer’s Market and to focus on our locally grown foods.

Tickets are $30 and include a commemorative wine glass and six tastings of Kentucky wines, plus delicious food tastings prepared by our outstanding local chefs teamed with local farmers, live music by County Line Bluegrass and Danny Fulkerson, plus a silent auction.

All foods used are regionally grown and all wines are from Kentucky vineyards. Wines will also be available for purchase from the vineyards.

ONLY 300 TICKETS WILL BE SOLD! Tickets can be purchased at the Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau at 215 E. Second Street on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Or they can be purchased at the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market in the Owensboro Christian Church parking lot on New Hartford Road on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Marathon Ski for DAV (Disabled American Veterans)

Mark Miller and his two teenage sons will be slalom skiing (one ski) the entire length of the Ohio River (981 miles) in late July. This event is to raise awareness and funds for the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). They will be passing through Owensboro around lunchtime on July 22nd, and continuing on to finish their journey in Cairo, IL on July 23rd. Their website is www.dav.org/marathonski.
