OMG!Con continues to be a very good event for Owensboro and the Owensboro Convention Center, said Mark Calitri.    

Calitri pointed to Dave Kirk’s Visit Owensboro Destination Management when he said the conference has a significant economic impact on Owensboro, estimating the OMG!Con will bring $300,000 to the community with a good attendance.

O.Z. Tyler modernizes bourbon production, expands distillery to 95,000 annual barrels



When O.Z. Tyler decided to rehab the old Medley Distillery in 2014, they had to turn deterioration, from the 25 years the facility sat vacant, into what is set to become the world’s fourth-largest independent bourbon distillery.

Call said the $25 million renovation not only allowed for new electrical, plumbing and piping systems, but also gave the distillery a chance to modernize and automate the centuries-old bourbon craft.

Everyday Owensboro touches the world! says Mark Calitri.  During last week’s Kentucky Travel Industry Associaiton spring conference Pure Michigan VP (#1 most recognized marketing campaign in United States) says Owensboro's Brand USA video is his favorite. It tells a story that resonates with the viewer!

  “Pure Michigan is the model,” says Calitri.  The Brand USA video featuring Owensboro creates a connection with viewers.  As of May 2019, the video has over 4,000,000 views. That means that 4,000, 000 people have seen the Owensboro story and our message.  With additional marketing resources the video has the potential to reach several more million this year alone.

 Visit Owensboro is continuing to build a destination that is attractive to visitors.

Brand USA takes Owensboro Kentucky to world stage


Owensboro tourism moved to the international stage Thursday night with the launching of Brand USA's "Hear the Music, Experience The USA" campaign locally.

Brand USA, the marketing agency for American tourism, selected Owensboro as one of its Top 10 American music cities last year.

And a short video about Owensboro has already drawn more than 4.1 million views -- and 22 million impressions, the number of times the website is opened -- worldwide.

That's more than any other city in the campaign, Tom Garzilli, chief marketing officer for Brand USA, told a crowd gathered at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

Mark Calitri, president of the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau, called the promotion "a beautiful opportunity for Owensboro."

It's time, he said, for the area to capitalize on its music heritage.

   Hank Phillips was the keynote speaker for the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce breakfast. Phillips reported that Kentucky is now a travel state. He noted that visitors are looking for experiences that are compelling and authentic. A brand is a promise and Owensboro’s brand of bourbon, barbeque, and bluegrass fulfills the promise.

“The Clermont County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is excited to host the 2017 USRowing Club Nationals for the third year in a row,” said President of the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau Mark Calitri. “This year’s event produced a record-breaking economic impact to the Cincinnati East region and highlights the increasing value that USRowing and the sport of rowing brings to this community. We are anticipating future capital improvements to the venue in order to provide the highest level of service to our rowers, coaches and fans.”

The 60-acre site will host Kings Hammer’s annual Blue Chip College Showcase Tournament, drawing hundreds of teams and coaches to the region every year, said Mark Calitri, executive director of the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“Kings Hammer has a lease that guarantees them 16 weekends to host their events,” said Calitri, who estimates the club will generate an economic impact of $28 million over five years from increased visitor spending. Kings Hammer had been using a field in Oxford for its events. Calitri facilitated the deal between the soccer club and the Ruebel family, which owns Red Barn.
It’s not clear whether Kings Hammer will have an affiliation with the new FC Cincinnati soccer team. Calitri said Berding recently stepped down as Kings Hammer president.
